Summary

This article outlines how to enable or disable the winget command line tool access for the end user in the organization

Steps

  1. Login to Intune Portal and navigate to Devices –> Windows –> Configuration –> Create –> New Policy

2. Select settings catalog profile and click create

3. In the settings picker window, search for Desktop App Installer and choose the setting ‘Enable App Installer’

4. Choose the option Enabled or Disabled as per your requirement

5. Assign the profile to the targeted group and click create to complete the profile creation

Note :

  • If you disable this setting, users won’t be able to use the Windows Package Manager.

Users will still be able to execute the winget command. The default help will be displayed, and users will still be able to execute winget -? to display the help as well. Any other command will result in the user being informed the operation is disabled by Group Policy.
